10 things freelancers need to do before the New Year

We are in the holiday season and the Christmas is coming very soon, followed by the New Year. Although we are busy with holiday planning, gift purchasing and wrapping, it’s important to prepare yourself as a freelancer for the new year, so you can start the next year as well organized, fresh and full with energy.

Below are 10 things you need to do before the year ends:

1. Get your productivity tools ready.
If you are still switching between productivity tools all the year, it’s time to settle down on what you will be using the next year. Your productivity tools are very important and can affect your work dramatically

2. Finish your outstanding projects
Try to finish all your outstanding projects and minimize the number of projects that will be transferred to the next year.

3. Get paid for outstanding invoices.
Send all your outstanding invoices to your customers and try to get paid before the year ends. This will help you to determine how well you did the past year, however if you want to defer income for the next year for Tax purpose, you can get your invoices ready but don’t send them till the Jan 2015.

4. Send Holiday cards for your clients
Send your clients a holiday greeting, it’s nice to thank your clients and send them warm holiday wishes. It’s also a good chance to contact your old customers and remind them of what you are doing.

8. Do some tax work
